Story About "Ojinguh Gui"

Ojinguh Gui is a grilled spicy marinated squid dish. This seafood delicacy with a Korean flair boasts all the delicious elements of a squid, one of the most versatile seafood ingredients. Squid can be cooked in many different ways, boiled, steamed, and fried. It carries a great nutty taste on its own but also works beautifully with different flavors and textures, which is precisely why it’s often seen in asian cuisine cooking. For Ojinguh Gui, each piece of squid is marinated in a special spicy sauce, which includes minced garlic, ginger, gochujang, soy sauce, and sesame oil, until all the seasoning properly soaks in. Once the marinade of herbs and spices are deeply set, the squid is stir fried on a grill to just the right consistency where it’s soft and juicy, yet still chewy. The finished display of bite size squid slices covered and dripping in spicy red sauce will have your mouth watering. Ojinguh Gui is a popular choice of anju, which are tapas style plates that compliment alcoholic drinks like soju and makgeolli, a Korean style rice wine. Although this dish by itself presents a full range of flavors from spicy to sweet, it’s just as yummy with other banchans and sticky rice.
