AMAZING! First Korean BBQ experience and I’m definitely coming back! I was a little nervous about what food to choose and the staff were very attentive and gave me excellent recommendations and the food exceeded my expectations. The rice bowl and the BBQ dish were both delicious. I’m still salivating!

Best quality Korean BBQ meat in the area? Definitely much better than Iron Age. The pork belly cuts are extremely well marbled and the assortment of free banchan (2x only) includes: potatoes, kimchi, bean sprouts, fish cake, and pickled cucumbers. Possibly the only Korean restaurant with fermented blue crab as an appetizer. They even give you a complimentary yogurt drink dessert!!

HGJT gets five stars from me if only because the Korean ladies who greeted my group warmly with big smiles said hello, and goodbye, in actual Korean (yes, that's important to me). I've been to other Korean restos (and the Korean bakery next door) where they don't even bother to smile...they just give you this "passive face look" that ostensibly gives you a deriding feeling of condescension. ...Anyway, not much for a posh ambiance, HGJT makes up for it with a casual, homey vibe. There's nothing pretentious. We place our orders and they arrive in a timely manner (well, it is a Friday at the tail end of lunch hour so there are only a handful of guests). The food is collectively good. There are enough flavors, ingredients, and spiciness to go around. The servings are filling. Yes, I can say..."Igeo masisseoyo!" I can see myself/us going back for more.

Best bulgogi and Korean bbq that I have tasted in years. The dubboki was specially made mild and it was absolutely over the top. The owner was very nice to us.

Friendly service and great authentic Korean food. Their soondubu and galbi dolsot bibimbop is seasoned well and priced well. Most placed charge $18-$24, but here it's just $15. Pretty good for short ribs. They also have a KBBQ option but it's not AYCE and as a college student I can't really justify it. I'd rather go to Iron Age for AYCE or go somewhere a bit more expensive for special occasions.

We came to this spot for a meeting. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. Well, we were not disappointed. the crew were so friendly and we felt very good. The food was just great. We loved this place a lot and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Warmly recommended.

I celebrated my PhD yesterday in this gorgeous place. Well we had a outstanding evening and the venue was definitely the reason for that fruitful meeting. The waiters helped in a graceful style, the food was extremely good and my buddies were very glad. We shall surely come back again for more events. Thank you very much.

It’s been a few years but finally made it back to Hwa Gae Jang for the best galbi outside of Korea. The food is absolutely phenomenal and service to match. If you’re wanting authentic Korean, this is the place. I’ve been to most of the Korean restaurants in Montgomery County, Hwa Gae Jang is by far the best!

I dine in this great restaurant from time to time! This is my favorite spot to have a bite. I go there frequently. The cooking is just great, the workers are welcoming and the rates are fair. I like meeting in this spot to have a tasty supper.

It's always a good sign when you call the restaurant and they answer in Korean lol. This place hands down has the best Korean food I've ever had (which is saying a lot). Galbi, jaeyook gui, banchan, and seafood pajeon were outstanding. Plus all of the staff were so nice. I felt more like I was in someone's home than a restaurant. Honestly, I'm glad I don't live close by or else I'd be broke from eating here every night. Can't wait to go back and try other favorites like sundubu and ddeokbokgi.

two days ago was our first time we went to this excellent restaurant. But It is surely not the last time. We had great time with the generous service, with the fine dishes and booze and with the modest payment. We will definitely go back there soon.
